The Times of India has reported that sales tax for imported liquor sold at Tasmac Elite shops has been hiked to 12 per cent thereby making them costlier.
However, there is no change in tax rate on Indian made foreign liquor sold at these outlets.
Many feel that the government has resorted to the move in a bid to increase revenue as only liquor and fuel are outside the purview of the goods and services tax.
