According to reports, a couple was robbed at knifepoint by 15 men near Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border on Wednesday evening. Anuradha and her husband Baskar were on their way to a wedding in Tirupati when a gang of 15 men intercepted them and took away 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery from them.
The couple on reaching the wedding, shared their plight, after which nearly 50 men got on their vehicles to catch the gang. The thieves were found easily, and their leader, Raji was mercilessly beaten up. Six other robbers were also caught and beaten up. The others, however, fled the scene.
The accused were handed over to the police. Raji was critically injured and was admitted to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Reportedly, two more of the robbers were arrested on Thursday.
