D Indumathi, a scientist with the India-based Neutrino Observatory, spoke about various aspects of the neutrino project in a special interview with Sumanth C Raman for Behindwoods. In the interview, D Indumathi answered many commonly raised questions, while also giving clarifications about technical aspects. She explained why the tunnel is built underground in the Bodi West Hills and denied any chance for environmental degradation and earthquake due to explosion to build the tunnel. She also gave an account of tunnels to be built under the mountain and the neutrino beams. Stating that people in the area will not be affected by any radiation, D Indumathi added that the project would require much less water than the stated 3,40,000 litres a day.
