India Gets Its First Police Booth With Bio-Toilet In Coimbatore

Police officials, who work day in and day out to control traffic for long hours, know the pain when it comes to bowel movements. Finding the time and apt place to relieve themselves is a major task during peak hours, especially for women cops.


In a news that comes as a relief, the traffic department is setting up toilet attached police booths at busy junctions. The first such structure, also the first in India, is getting ready at the Coimbatore Medical College traffic signal on Avinashi Road. Water connectivity to the bio-toilet will be given in 2 days, and the toilet will be fully functional from next week.


Apart from toilet, the booth will be fitted with a faucet, exhaust fan, LED lights, emergency lights , fan, mobile charging ports, and a PA system.


City-based Park Group, in collaboration with Pathfinder Business Analysis Pvt Ltd, is setting up the facility at a cost of Rs 4 lakh, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. The booth will offer comfort to officers who stand in the sun for most of the day, DCP Traffic, Sujit Kumar said.
