The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai on Wednesday said that some parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to witness heavy rains coupled with thunder. Due to the intensifying southwest monsoon, the Western Ghats and the mountainous regions in Dindigul will receive heavy rains.
Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni and Dindigul districts may witness heavy rains, the Centre said. In the last 24 hours, Chinnakallar registered 10 cm rainfall, Valparai 9 cm, Periyar 4cm and Dewala recorded 3 cm the rainfall.
The weather agency also said that the sky will be cloudy in Chennai. Parts of the city are likely to receive a slight rainfall in the evening or at night.
