Weather Report: North East Monsoon Advanced; Heavy Rain Alert for 11 TN Districts!

The Indian metrological department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alert for 11 Tamil Nadu districts. Earlier, it was reported that the North East Monsoon would likely begin on October 17 (Tomorrow). However, the situation had advanced and the monsoon started today itself.

Therefore, slight rainfall or drizzles could be expected in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry today and tomorrow as per the report of IMD.

The alert specifically targets Kanniyakumari, Tirunelvelli, Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvaarur, Nagapattinam, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore and Ariyalur districts. It is said that some of these districts would receive slight rainfall whereas other districts can expect heavy rainfall.

In Chennai and its surrounding vicinity, hazy clouds are expected to hover around while heavy rains accompanied with thunderstorms can be expected in certain areas.
