The Madras High Court on Thursday ordered a CBI inquiry into the Gutkha scam, in which Tamil Nadu health minister C Vijayabaskar and top police officials were allegedly involved. The court issued the order on a petition filed by DMK MLA J Anbazhagan. The petition argued that the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, which is currently probing the matter, cannot conduct a fair investigation as it has officers drawn from the state police.
