According to reports, an elderly woman risked her life to save her granddaughter from a falling balcony in Mogappair East. Reportedly, Lakshmi and Natarajan were sitting on the first floor of an apartment along with their granddaughter, Lakshana, when the second-floor balcony broke and fell on them.
Lakshmi allegedly used her body to shield her granddaughter on her lap. While Lakshana suffered minor injuries, Lakshmi and Natarajan were critically injured. The couple was admitted at the Kilpauk Medical Hospital where Lakshmi succumbed to her injuries.
According to reports, a man on a two-wheeler nearby was also injured due to the impact of the incident.
