According to reports, an FIR has revealed that the special deputy Tahsildar ordered the police firing in Thoothukudi which ultimately resulted in the death of 13 people during the anti-sterlite protest.
In his complaint, Tahsildar Sekhar reportedly stated that he ordered the firing in order to save lives and properties at the Thoothukudi collectorate as people were pelting stones. After the section 144 was lifted on Monday, normalcy returned to Thoothukudi, days after violence stuck the district.
