Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsWhile the suicide of IIT Madras student Fathima Latheef had sent shock waves to all, the Mother of Fathima had stated that "“We believed Tamil Nadu will be safe. That is why we sent our daughter there to study".
Fathima Latheef whose native has Kerala hanged herself to death in her hostel room and there were strong speculations that many professors were related to her decision to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, the mother of Fathima Latheef went emotional and said that "Initially we feared to send Fathima out of our place. Moreover, we also instructed not to wear burka only to prevent herself from caste discrimination. We advised her to wear the usual clothes like other students. Fathima got admission in Banaras but we were scared to send her to North India though she insisted to go. It was only during that time she got admission in Chennai IIT. We thought Tamil Nadu would be safe. That is why we sent our daughter there to study. But all our beliefs have turned upside down".
She further insisted that her daughter went through torture in the IIT institute and professor Sudarshan Padmanaban could be the prime suspect.
“My daughter was very interested in studies and all her friends know about it. She didn't even know to tie Chudidhar rope. She would feel it painful and avoid to do so. Therefore we are not sure from where did Chudidhar rope come to her neck. We will definitely fight hard and get justice for our daughter. We should not lose another Fathima,” said Fathima’s Mother.
