Drunk man attempts to abduct child, arrested

According to reports, a 28-year-old man hailing from Dharmapuri was nabbed by police after residents on the service lane off Marina Beach alerted the police on Saturday when the man tried to abduct a child.

Allegedly, the man was drunk. The girl was abducted when her parents were waiting to buy food from a shop in the service lane near Kannagi Statue at around 2.30 pm. The girl’s 7-year-old elder brother saw the man trying to abduct her and screamed for help. Locals, alarmed by the scream chased the man and rescued the child.
