However, the latest one is extremely informative, especially for the residents of Chennai. In order to curb the spread of the infection, streets where infected people reside or resided are being blocked, thereby making it impossible for the others to access the road. Such roads or areas are coming to be known as containment zones.
More than two hundred roads have been blocked in Chennai, from the 15 Zones. This latest initiative involves a Google map that provides a proper list of the names of the streets which have been locked down, from their respective zones, along with red flags marked on each containment zone.
The different Zones which fall under the Greater Chennai Corporation are:
Zone 1: Thiruvottriyur
Zone 2: Manali
Zone 3: Madhavaram
Zone 4: Tondiarpet
Zone 5: Royapuram
Zone 6: Thiru-Vika-Nagar
Zone 7: Ambattur
Zone 8: Anna Nagar
Zone 9: Teynampet
Zone 10: Kodambakkam
Zone 11: Valasaravakkam
Zone 12: Alandur
Zone 13: Adayar
Zone 14: Perunkudi
Zone 15: Shozganganallur
From Zones 1,3, and 4, 18 roads (approximately) have been blocked. From Zone 5 alone, 50 streets (approximately) have been blocked. From Zone 9, 14 streets (approximately) have been blocked. From the other zones, more than 260 streets have been blocked as containment zones.
