Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsThe Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has identified and notified seven zones in Chennai that have reported most number of COVID-19 positive cases. With the recent stats and updates, Chennai has reported 600 new cases taking the tally to 6009.
With this rise in case, as many as 451 containment zones have been created to prevent the spread of the virus around the city. While speaking to media, Corporation special nodal officer J. Radhakrishnan notified seven hotspots in the city which are Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar, Royapuram, Kodambakkam, Anna Nagar, Teynampet, Tondiarpet and Valasaravakkam as they had reported most of the positive cases in the city.
Meanwhile, in three zones of the city, the number of positive cases have spiked up because of residents in just one ward testing positive for COVID-19. Like, in Tattankulam, 96 people tested positive on one street for COVID-19.
“ATMs in containment zones have been closed. We will start mobile ATM for residents. All offices in the containment zones have been closed. We have focussed on vulnerable population. We request residents with symptoms to come forward for testing. Delayed referrals are a challenge,” Radhakrishnan said.
The corporation special nodal officer further requested patients’ family members not to visit hospitals and COVID-19 care centres, as overcrowding can be reported.
