Chennai cops have finally cracked the case of a woman burnt to death on the outskirts of Chengalpet on May 28.
Initially, the burnt dead body of the woman was thought to be of Jeshna’s, a Kerala student who went missing, but the police have pieced together the puzzle by identifying the mortal remains as that of one Pokkisham Mary, belonging to Anna Nagar.
Mary had gone missing last Sunday and her two-wheeler was retrieved from Koyambedu bus terminus. During police investigation, it came to light that Mary was in a relationship with one Bala of the same locality for the past eight years.
But since Bala was already married, a spoke came in the affair with Mary refusing to wed him. Cops said that enraged by her refusal, Bala had set her on fire with the help of a friend.
Following this, the duo was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
