Police on Saturday said that a 30-year-old woman fought off a leopard in the backyard of her house in Valparai, Coimbatore, to save her daughter, says a Times of India report. The woman, Muthulakshmi, along with her daughter Sathya, was collecting firewood on Friday night when the animal swooped on the 11-year-old and dragged her by the neck.
However, the feline let go of the girl and fled into the jungle when Muthulakshmi hit it so hard with a firewood. Police said that Sathya was taken to a hospital in Pollachi as she suffered injuries to the neck.
Forest officials have reportedly planned to trap the leopard following the incident. The report also added that a woman was similarly attacked a fortnight ago.
