The Management also added that they have started cleaning the railway stations, lifts and train compartments. Once metro services commence, the protocol will be followed to ensure the safety of passengers and avoid the spread of COVID19.
According to a News 18 Tamil report, the CMRL has implemented a new set of guidelines to ensure the safety of passengers. Once services commence, it will be mandatory for all passengers to wear masks, undergo thermal screening and sanitize their hands while entering the railway station. Tokens will be replaced with smart cards in order to avoid contact. A metro train can typically ply 1,270 passengers. However, once trains start operating post lockdown, only 160 passengers or so will be allowed to commute in one train.
