Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami reportedly wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over 21 from the state who are stranded in Iran after their employers seized their passports. The fishermen were working for a company in Iran on a contractual basis.
Reportedly, the company didn’t pay them their salary and they were left without food and shelter. CM Palaniswami has requested the PM to take action to rescue the stranded fishermen through the Indian embassy in Iran.
According to reports, eight fishermen from Kanyakumari, seven from Tirunelveli and six from Thoothukudi are stranded in Iran.
