Chennaiites who violate COVID-19 lockdown norms end up with vehicles seized
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsAfter Chennai was brought under complete lockdown, the city police are leaving no stones unturned in making sure the lockdown is effective. People who sneaked out for a casual drive felt the heat after their vehicles were seized.
As per a report by TNIE, a total of 3,577 cases were registered in the city on Sunday alone. The cumulative figure for the last three days is 10,604. City traffic police seized 948 vehicles on Sunday till 4pm.
The report further stated that on Sunday, 1,395 cases were registered for failing to wear a mask and for not ahering to social distance. The cumulative figure for the last three days on this regard stood at 3,517.
"In the last two days there has been some incidents when some media persons and government staff had heated arguments with police when they were stopped for entering the city without valid pass. We request them to understand that this is for the greater good," City police commissioner AK Viswanathan was quoted as saying by TNIE.
