Two years after Chennai recorded zero cases of Cholera, two patients from a private hospital in Nandanam tested positive to the disease and three others were showing symptoms. The greater Chennai corporation was reportedly flagged by Apollo Speciality Hospital about the cases.
The source of the disease has not been found yet. However, the common link among the patients is that they have eaten food bought outside the hospital. The patients, who were already getting treated for other diseases were isolated to prevent any infection and are stable.
A person infected by the disease will take 12 hours to five days to display symptoms. The common symptom of the disease is watery diarrhea. The disease is caused due to the consumption of water or food contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio Cholerae.
