According to reports, a Chennai youth had his phone stolen on Wednesday in Pursawalkam. Simeon was at an Airtel showroom to replace his sim card. When he walked out, he realised that his phone was missing. He registered a complaint at the Kilpauk police station, but another case took their priority.
Simeon called his friend Jaffer and together they caught the thief. The duo looked through the showroom's CCTV footage and found two suspicious men. However, the men's numbers could not be reached after getting it from Airtel officials.
Simeon used the accused's name and searched for him on Facebook. After offering a job and with a lot of insistence, the accused gave the duo his address. Simeon and Jaffer went to the address on Thursday morning and confronted the thief. The accused reportedly handed over Simeon's phone and was handed over to the police.
Speaking to TNM, Jaffer reportedly said, "We use social media a lot. So we thought somehow we can find him. My friend was very upset. He already has three EMIs. He felt bad that for a lost phone, he will have to pay EMI."
