A man lost his leg after being hit by an MRTS train when he tried to pass the railway tracks near Kodambakkam in Chennai. The man was identified as 22-year-old Satheesh, who is working with a medical shop in the area. The incident took place around 3.30 pm on Sunday.


The train was on its way from Tambaram to Chennai Beach railway station. After taking passengers from Kodambakkam, the train started towards Beach station. However, the loco pilot tried to halt the train when he saw the youth trying to cross the rail tracks.


But he was hit by the train. Satheesh lost his leg and suffered serious injury on his head. After receiving information about the accident, Mambalam railway police rushed to the spot. The youth was sent to Rajiv Gandhi government hospital where he is receiving treatment.


Police have registered a case and are a probe is on.
