The bereaved mother of 22-year-old tourist from Chennai, S Thirumaniselvam, who tragically died after being pelted with stones in Jammu and Kashmir, had only one question to ask, repeatedly, to anyone, at the last rites of her beloved son. "What wrong has my son done to meet with such a tragic end?"

He was just a tourist, why did an awful thing happen to him, she added as she wept at her son's funeral held at their Karimedu home in neighbouring Tiruvallur district.

The state government had earlier announced a solatium of Rs 3 lakh to the bereaved family while Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, expressed her anguish, saying that her head hung in shame with regards to the entire incident.

Efforts are also on by the Tamil Nadu government to bring back other tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, safely back to their dens. This unfortunate incident has indeed created a huge dent in J&K's tourism.
