According to reports, a 23-year-old youth was found in a charred state at the room he had rented in Saidapet, Chennai on Sunday. After noticing heavy smoke emerging from a room in the third floor of the four-storey building in the early morning, the residents rushed outside.


The fire department was informed and firefighters were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. They brought the fire under control after a struggle for an hour. When they went to see the room on the third floor, they found a charred body of a man on the floor.


In the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the deceased is named Bharadwaj Sridhar from Telangana. Reportedly, he returned home after working in Germany and came to Chennai looking for a job. He had rented the room on the third floor.


Saidapet police have registered a case in the matter and are probing to ascertain if the man was murdered. The body has been sent to Royapettah government hospital for postmortem.
