A 36-year-old man jumped into Cooum river from Napier Bridge on Monday, according to TNIE reports. M Mohammed Sayad jumped off the bridge at around 12 pm during a conversation with his father and a friend. The father called fire and rescue services who arrived at the place around 1 pm.
They continued search till 6.30 pm in vain as Sayad’s body was not found. The search was called off to be continued on Tuesday. Meanwhile, police reportedly said that two bodies were found on different parts of the Cooum river.
The body of 25-year-old history-sheeter named S Madhan was recovered with injury marks around neck and head from the banks of the river near Chetpet, police said. Another body of an unidentified man, presumably aged 35, was recovered from the river near the Chintadripet railway station.
