An 85-year-old man was burnt to death by his son in Chennai’s Kolathur over an alleged property dispute. The elderly man Thulasiraman, a resident of Annai Sathya Nagar in the area, was burnt using petrol, say reports.
Narasimman, the youngest of his three sons, had demanded the partition of properties for the last six years. They were often involved in arguments over the matter.
On Wednesday, when the elderly man was alone at home, a dispute broke out between him and Narasimman. Following which, the son tied the Thulasiraman’s hands, poured petrol on him and set him on fire.
While the accused fled the spot, the neighbours spotted the smoke emerging from the house and found the elderly man charred in the fire. After receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
Police later nabbed Narasimman, who was hiding in Ambattur. Police have booked Narasimman for murder and an investigation has been launched into the matter.
