Video: Amid Coronavirus Fear, Chennai Holds Massive Protest Against CAA
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsIn a shocking case, where the country is fighting over the deadly Coronavirus outbreak, a non-political Islamic organisation Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TNTJ) staged a massive protest in Chennai over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
This protest was held at the Chepauk area near Marina Beach against the CAA and NRC, so that it could be revoked and that the state Assembly pass a resolution against National Population Register (NPR).
Despite hot sun and fear of virus, thousands of protesters including children, women and the elderly gathered near the Madras High Court metro station earlier in the day today.
According to a Republic World report, the protesters of TNTJ were heard shouting “even corona has killed only 2 people, but CAA has killed over 80” and “we would rather die of corona than as refugees in our own country”.
This protest was held days after the Tamil Nadu government had ordered to close schools, colleges, malls, theatres, amusement parks, pubs, swimming pools, gymnasiums and TASMAC bars all over the State till March 31.
