A branch of the Indian Overseas bank in Virugambakkam was robbed of gold and Rs 32 lakh by unidentified men on Monday. Five special teams were formed to probe the incident and investigations revealed that the branch's security guard and his wife went missing.
Since the security alarms in the bank were also inactive despite the use of welding machines to break open the lockers, police have zeroed in on the security guard as the prime suspect and are investigating the matter.
A police team was flown to Kathmandu in Nepal on Tuesday in search for the suspects.
