Chennai COVID-19 : 84% Recovery Rate in the City; Recovery Exceeds Active Cases! – Report

According to a report published by The New Indian Express, the recovered and discharged numbers between July 18 and 27 stands at 13,683 when compared to the new positive cases which have been at 12,329. Hence, around 84% of people in Chennai who were affected by the infection have recovered.

Health Minister, C Vijayabaskar has also substantiated the same. He has said that this increase in discharges has reduced the burden on the city’s hospitals.  Private hospital beds are vacant and the government hospitals have only 50-60 per occupancy. Express has confirmed with officials at KMC, Stanley and Omandurar, who have also confirmed that the number of Coronavirus patients admissions have reduced over the past week. However, the occupancy rate is the highest at RGGGH, which is the city’s main hospital.

The government’s website, http://www.stopcorona.tn shows that almost 80 hospitals have an increased number of vacant beds out of the total 86 hospitals present within the city limits.
