According to reports, burglars broke into a house in Velachery, Chennai, and fled with 200 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 7 lakh in cash. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information. A forensic team was also reportedly called up to find fingerprints and other traces.
The Owner of the house, Elangovan, who runs a supermarket and is involved in the construction business, along with his family members visited his native town Tirunelveli on Friday, say reports. The incident came to light when a staff member of his supermarket went to Elangovan’s house on Saturday morning. On noticing that the lock was broken in the house, the staff member informed his owner, who immediately informed police control room.
In another similar incident in Royapettah, Chennai, a house a man named Suresh Kumar has been robbed of silver weighing about 6.5 kilograms, reports added.
