Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram on Thursday was named an accused in the Aircel-Maxis case by way of a charge-sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Chidambaram's son Karti and 16 others have also been named in the charge-sheet. Chidambaram is alleged to have misused his position in approving Foreign Direct Investment of ₹3,500-crore in Aircel-Maxis deal while having authority to approve only up to ₹600 crore.
Meanwhile, Chidambaram said that the CBI has been forced to turn the charge-sheet against him.
