Chennai Corona Alert: While Koyambedu Recovers, Cases in Royapuram Rises Rapidly Crossing 2000-Mark - Reasons Detailed!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsTamil Nadu has registered second-highest number of coronavirus cases in the country with 17,082 confirmed cases so far. Looking at the 15 hotspot zones in Chennai, there are nearly 11,131 cases that have been reported in the city.
Among the most infected areas, Royapuram leads with 2, 065 cases, followed by Kodambakkam with 1,488 then comes Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar with 1,253 cases, Teynampet with 1186 and Tondiarpet with 1,096.
Looking at the recovered cases in Chennai, a total of 5,331 have been recovered so far. While 5, 643 patients are receiving treatment currently.
Few factors which could have been the reason for the rise across the city are; Royapuram is a crowded area with houses too close to each other, people in that area also tend to use public toilets while most of them are still ignoring government's instructions.
Coming to Koyambedu, this area comes under Kodambakkam zone which is doing its best to bring down the number.
As the number started increasing around the city, the state government and officials swung into action and ensured guidelines for restricted areas. Even, J Radhakrishnan, the Special officer for the City, himself visited residential areas and spread awareness about the virus. He was also seen distributing 'Kabasura Kudineer' to people in that area.
The shifting of Koyambedu market to Thirumazhisai is also said to be one of the reasons for the decreasing number of cases in Koyambedu area.
