Speaking to the press at an event hosted by FICCI, Auditor Gurumurthy said that the combination of Modi and Rajinikanth will do wonders for Tamil Nadu. He said that with Modi's administrative skills and Rajinikanth's mass appeal, wonders can be created in TN.
His comment faced heavy criticism from politicians. Fisheries Minister Jayakumar said, "Auditor Gurumurthy should not become political Gurumurthy. Don't trigger the good man that is Actor Rajinikanth."
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy tweeted, "Media anchors call S. Gurumurthy CA as “RSS Idealogue”. There is no such post in RSS. They better call him Rajni Publicity Activist."
