Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsThe 6th Jeernodharana Maha Kumbabhishekam of Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Temple, Adyar, was consecrated today (Jun 20) morning between 7.30 am and 9.00 am in the holy presence and at the hands of Parama Poojya Jagadguru Sri Vidyapeetadheeshwara Badari Shankaracharya, Sri Vidhyabhinava, Sri Sri Krishnanandha Theertha Mahaswamigal of Shakatapuram.
The very first Maha Kumbabhishekam of the temple was performed on 12 March 1962 by of Jagadguru Sri Sri Abhinava Vidyatheertha Mahaswamigal of Sringeri Sarada Peetam. On that day, a sacred "Yantram" given by Jagadguru Sri Kanchi Paramacharya Sri Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Maha Swamigal was inlaid beneath the Moola Vigraham of Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy by the Jagadguru of Sri Sringeri Sarada Peetam. This was a unique Sangamam. Since then, four more Maha Kumbabhishekams have been performed on 6 September 1976, 11 February 2001, and 1 June 2012.
Today, the temple became a Mahakshetram and was resonated as Bhooloka Vaikuntam. All the devotees were requested by the temple authorities to support by providing their liberal contributions in terms of funds for the successful conduct of the Maha Kumbabhishekam and they were also invited to actively participate and have Dharshan of the divine event of the Maha Kumbabhishekam and receive bountiful blessings of Sridevi - Bhoodevi Sametha Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy by Hereditary Trustee A N Srinivasa Rao and Adyakshakar Kumbakonam Srividya Ratnakara Brahmashri K Dinakara Sarma.
