AIADMK on Monday released a statement removing an IT wing functionary after he posted derogatory remarks against journalists on his personal Twitter handle. The statement said that the party functionary from Kanchipuram East has been removed for his conduct which violates the party’s principles and aim.

Hari Prabhakaran, Assistant Secretary, District Information Technology Wing of AIADMK, called journalists 'street dogs'. He wrote, “Reporters are not allowed to shoot inside the hospital during the DCM visit - street dogs who shouts for biscuits will be tied on the gate rather allowing them inside.” The tweet was about journalists who went to cover Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) O Panneerselvam’s visit to Thoothukudi government hospital to inquire about the health of those who were injured in police firing.

The IT wing functionary, however, later apologised and said, “All opinions expressed by me are personal and it is not official party view. I'm not authorised to express party views. I heard few people got hurt due to one of my tweet this morning .I don't have any animosity towards any group of people.”
