Aavin milk procurement had reportedly decreased by 3.5 lakh litres due to fall in milk production in Tamil Nadu in recent times, according to a TNIE report. The total milk production in September 2017 had been 31 lakh litres. It had now decreased to 27.5 lakh litres.
However, compared to last year’s drop in summer, this is still marginally better. This dip would not affect the liquid milk distribution (11.50 lakh litres to Chennai and 10 lakh litres to other centres in the State). But the production of byproducts is likely to be affected.
