Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsThe World has witnessed many child prodigies including those who mastered to spell the most difficult words, solve Rubik's cube and complicated mathematical equations as well. The recent one to join the list is a 9-year-old boy SK Akatheesh from Erode. The boy has mastered some brilliant skills to not just name but also identify more than 190 countries on the World Map in addition to their flags.
Akatheesh's mother T Savithri told that the boy memorised the names of places as well as the determination on the young blood cells for praises and lauds in just 2 years starting from his age of 7. The curiosity of Akatheesh triggered him to learn about World places and flags after he had a conversation with one of his friends when he came across a place called Mettur in Salem.
Then, Akatheesh had asked his mother to get him Tamil Nadu map to spot the place, Mettur. Gradually, his fascination towards places, names and flags around the world lead him to gain more knowledge. He was eventually supported by his mother as she bought him maps, atlases and other books.
"Seeing him every day investing considerable time in locating countries on the globe, I identified his interest in geography. I got him maps, atlases and other books. He learned everything by himself," the daily quoted T Savithri saying. The boy's father S Satheesh Kumar told the New Indian Express that parents should let their children explore different talents and teach them the effective use of today's available technology rather than blaming the negative aspects of it.
SK Akatheesh is a student of Bharathi Vidya Bhavan, Erode and the India Book of Records recognized him with a certificate of appreciation for his excellent knowledge in geography. Well, being a Tamil Nadu student and gaining such a vast knowledge at the very early age, he could be attributed to one of the popular Tamil songs Alaporan Thamizhan Ulagam Ellame ( Tamilian will rule the World) from the 2017 film 'Mersal' (Goosebumps)
