Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsIn a shocking case, atleast two people were killed and four others got severely injured after an explosion took place at Gangai Amman temple in Manamathi village in Tiruporur, Kanchipuram.
Currently, the injured have been admitted to a government hospital.
Soon after the incident, the Kanchipuram police came into action stating that the temple was cleaned recently and some objects were discarded. Some people at the temple found a mysterious object among the discarded items and went to inspect it.
As an when they were inspecting, an explosion took place after they tried to open it forcibly. Currently, the bomb squad is investigating the matter and the kind of explosive device it was.
While speaking to IANS news agency, a police official said that, "a tank near the temple in Manampathi was being cleaned; from there, the workers recovered an unidentified object. They tried to open when it blew up, killing a youth named K. Surya and injuring five others."
Further controlling the situation, the police official claimed that this explosion has no connection between the current terror alert in the state.
"We were initially shocked when we heard about the blast. But on coming here, it was clear this is a different kind of blast," the police official added.
