77 days after fire accident, 1000 pillar hall in Meenakshi temple opened in Madurai

The fire which guttered as many as 30 shops, slightly damaged the 1000 pillar hall (Aayiram Kaal Mandapam) in Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple on February 2. Along with that, the Veera Vasantharaya hall was also heavily damaged in the fire.

While the damage in Veera Vasantharaya hall is still being fixed, the 1000 pillar hall has been fully repaired. Since the ‘Chithirai’ festival is fast approaching, the hall was opened by the temple authorities 77 days after the fire.
