"If I was part of RCB, I wouldn't have thought of letting him go" - Sehwag points out the team's 'biggest loss' in IPL 2022!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsSehwag has said he would not have made this mistake if he had been in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad.
The IPL mega auction was held in Bangalore last February. Prior to that, the BCCI allowed each team to retain 4 players. Accordingly, Royal Challengers Bangalore retained only three players, Virat Kohli, Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj.
The non-retention of Yuzvendra Chahal, who was considered to be the key spinner for the Bangalore team, came as a shock to the fans. Following this, the Bangalore team did not take Chahal in the IPL mega auction. It had been widely criticized by the cricket fans.
Chahal had been playing for Bangalore for the last 8 years. He has taken 139 wickets in 114 matches for the team. He has been the main reason for the Bangalore team to win many matches. Post which, he was auctioned by the Rajasthan Royals.
Sehwag, a former India opener, commented on the situation. In it, “Their biggest loss has been Yuzvendra Chahal. He was their best player on small pitches like Bengaluru or in Dubai. He used to take the most wickets on those grounds. He was the most economical bowler on those grounds. If I was part of RCB, I wouldn't have thought about letting go Chahal, for any price,” Sehwag said.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore team played against the Punjab Kings yesterday. It is noteworthy that Bangalore lost the match by 205 runs.
