The India vs Sri Lanka Test series will witness two matches that commenced on March 4 (Friday) to March 8 (Tuesday). The venue of the encounter is IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. India will be led by their new Test skipper Rohit Sharma. The team have won all three matches of the T20 series and are looking to continue their winning streak in the Test series as well.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat. At the end of the first day's play, the Indian team had scored 357-6. Rishabh Pant had scored 96* while Jadeja was on the field with 45 and Ashwin with 10.
The second day of the game started in the morning. Jadeja completed his 2nd Test century. Then, as usual he swung his bat like a sword and celebrated the feat in Rajput style. Jadeja and Ashwin added 130 runs. Ashwin was caught out for 61 runs of 82 balls while Jadeja scored 99 runs.
Then Jayant Yadav got out quickly and Jadeja paired up with Mohammed Shami to score 175 runs. While the fans were expecting him to score a double century, Rohit's sudden declaration caused a stir among the fans.
Similarly, the timing of declaration also reminded the fans of Dravid’s decision to declare the innings when Sachin Tendulkar was on 194* in the 2004 Multan Test against Pakistan.
The Indian team management decided to declare the innings on 574/8, leaving Jadeja stranded on 175 not out.
