The 5th league match of the IPL series was played at the Pune ground yesterday. Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by Kane Williamson, and Rajasthan Royals, led by Sanju Samson, clashed. It was the first match for the Hyderabad team without David Warner and Rashid Khan.
Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson, who won the toss, invited Rajasthan to bat. Batting first, Rajasthan scored 210 in 20 overs. Captain Sanju Samson top-scored with 55, Devdutt Padikkal with 41, Jos Butler with 35 and Shimron Hetmyer with 52. For Hyderabad, Natarajan and Umran Malik took 2 wickets each while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Romario Shepherd took 1 wicket each.
Following this, the Hyderabad team batted. Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma were the opening batsmen. Kane Williamson was out for 2, followed by Rahul Tirupati and Nicholas Pooran who were duck out. So at the end of the power play overs, Hyderabad lost 3 wickets for only 14 runs. This puts Hyderabad at the top of the list of lowest run scorers in power play overs.
In this situation, the Rajasthan team could not cope with the bowling of the Hyderabad players who were subsequently knocked out. So at the end of 20 overs Sunrisers Hyderabad scored only 149 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. So Rajasthan won by 61 runs.
