This former CSK player opens up about the biggest issue of CSK and MI's performance in IPL 2022!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsWhen asked what are the strongest teams in the IPL series, many would name the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
Mumbai have won the IPL trophy five times and Chennai four times.
But, both the teams have finished in the last two places in the current IPL season.
Weakness of the Mumbai team
The Chennai Super Kings, who have played five matches so far, are in ninth place after winning only one match. On the other hand, the Mumbai team, which has lost five matches so far, is at the bottom of the points table. In the current IPL series, Mumbai is the only team that has not won a single match.
Prior to this, the Mumbai team had lost four to five matches in the beginning and then advanced to the next round. It is said that it is because of the bowling order of the team.
Meanwhile, former CSK player Shane Watson has commented on the real issue of the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings. "It hasn’t surprised me that MI is at the bottom of the table because they had a shocking auction. Spending so much money on Ishan Kishan…”
He further added, “He is a very talented and skillful player, but he’s not worth blowing nearly your whole salary on. And then, going for Jofra Archer, not knowing whether he is going to come back in. He hasn’t played cricket for quite a while. They have got quite a few holes in the team.”
CSK's main problem ..
Explaining the same, Shane Watson said, “The biggest issue with CSK, now that I have seen their five games, is that they have got a hole, especially with their fast bowling. In the previous years, they had Shardul Thakur. Deepak Chahar is injured. They paid a lot for him at the auction, but he is (likely to be) unavailable for a lot of the tournament, which is a big hole. They don’t have a quality overseas quick like Josh Hazlewood. Earlier, they always had a world-class overseas quick bowler.”
