KKR missed an easy chance to run out RCB's Dinesh Karthik in IPL 2022!

Kolkata missed out on an easy chance in the match against Bangalore.

The 6th league match of the IPL series was played at the Mumbai ground yesterday. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, led by Du Plessis, clashed with the Kolkata Knight Riders, led by Shreyas Iyer. Batting first, Kolkata lost the toss and elected to field. Kolkata lost all their wickets in 18.2 overs and scored only 128 runs.

Following this, Bangalore batted with a target of 129 to win. But Captain du Plessis, who made his debut, was bowled out for 5 and Anuj Rawat was ducked out. Virat Kohli followed with 12 runs and David Willey with 18 runs in a row. Sherfane Rutherford and Shahbaz Ahmed then formed an alliance and raised the score somehow.

Sherfane Rutherford was dismissed for 28 in the over by Tim Southee and Shahbaz Ahmed was dismissed for 27 in a row by Varun Chakraborty. This time wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik and Harshal  Patel joined the pair. Bangalore were in dire straits to win by 15 runs off the last 10 balls.

Dinesh Karthik and Harshal Patel then went to the same side as Venkatesh Iyer ran to score in the 19th over. Then there was an opportunity to dismiss them via run out. But Dinesh Karthik escaped from the run out as Umesh Yadav did not throw the ball properly. Following this, Dinesh smashed a six and a four in the next 20 overs to give Bangalore the lead. Fans have been commenting on social media that Kolkata would have won if Dinesh Karthik was run out.
