According to CricketNext, the match officials reported concerns over the legality of the bowling action of both the players.
Therefore, Kane Williamson and Akila Dananjaya are restricted from bowling for the next 14 days starting from August 18 (Reported date). It was stated that both the players would have to appear for assessment within the next two weeks.
In the Galle Test, Akila Dananjaya picked up 6 wickets for his side while Kane Williamson did not pick any wickets. According to the reports, the two players have had previous records of getting into the suspicious bowling action. Williamson was the first New Zealand player to be picked by ICC in 2014 for suspicious bowling action against West Indies in Trinidad.
On the other hand, Akila Dananjaya was suspended from bowling in the England Test series in Galle owing to his bowling action. Both Williamson and Dananjaya were allowed to bowl in international cricket after their respective assessments by ICC. Having caught once again for suspected bowling action, further reports are awaited regarding their bowling careers.
