The Indian opener has scored a total of 647 runs in 8 matches so far in the ongoing World Cup. Now, let us look at the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record that tops the table with 673 runs. Therefore, Rohit Sharma has to score 27 runs to become the top player with the most number of runs in a single World Cup edition. Former Australian opener Mathew Hayden holds the second position in the list after Sachin Tendulkar with 659 runs.
The semifinals against New Zealand on July 9 (today) will also make Rohit Sharma the first player to score the most number of centuries if he hits another 100 runs. Out of the 16 World Cup innings that Rohit has played in his career, he has scored 6 centuries thus making him share the record with Sachin Tendulkar who had scored also scored 6 centuries in his 44 World Cup innings.

He started the tournament with 122 runs against South Africa and then scored 57, 140, 1, 18, 102, 104 and 103 in the respective league matches.
