In a curious case in this World Cup on Monday during the match against Bangladesh, West Indies cricketer Oshane Thomas has smashed his own wickets.

In the 49th over of West Indies batting, Thomas readied to face Mustafizur and looked to go down the ground. But he missed the ball, and the bails came off moments later. Replays showed that Thomas has hit the bails with his bat by mistake.

Bangladesh appealed for hit wicket, umpires gave a soft signal for not out and sent it to the third umpire. The umpire rightly adjudged it to be not out per MCC's Law 35 which states "The striker is out Hit wicket if, after the bowler has entered the delivery stride and while the ball is in play, his/her wicket is put down by either the striker’s bat or person," First Post.

However, the Tweeple found it funny as soon tweets started flooding in and calling the moment bizarre. West Indies went on to score 321 runs and Bangladesh chased it off in 41.3 overs and won the match by 7 wickets. Watch video here: https://www.cricketworldcup.com/video/1248549
