India had a thumping win in the first of three-match T20I series against England with KL Rahul’s indomitable century and Kuldeep Yadav’s 5-wicket magic. In the clash at Old Trafford, Manchester, India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and asked England to bat first. England had an intimidating opening as Jos Buttler (30 off 20) and Jason Ray (69 off 46) dealt in boundaries.
While England were sailing rather comfortably, it was time for Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav to display some magic with the ball. He dismissed skipper Eoin Morgan (7), Jonny Bairstow (0) and Joe Root (0) in the 14th over. England scored 159 runs losing eight wickets in 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav registered his career-best 5 for 24.
Chasing the target of 160 runs, India opened with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. While Dhawan was shockingly dismissed at 4, Rohit Sharma scored 32 runs and returned to the pavilion. KL Rahul had already started attacking the rival bowlers. The second innings was Rahul’s show. He smashed his second T20 International hundred in just 54 balls. India reached the target in 18.2 overs after losing two wickets.
