Home > News Shots > Sports newsDuring the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 campaign, fans were shocked to see West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell falling to the ground after he suffered a brutal blow.
The tragic incident took place when Russell was batting for Jamaica Tallawahs' during the first innings against St Lucia Zouks at Sabina Park.
During the 14th over of the match, bowler Hardus Viljoen delivered his strike that struck the helmet of Russell, hitting him near the right ear.
By looking at the video, it clearly shows that the impact of the ball was so hard that is brought the strong Russell immediately to the ground before the other players ran to help him.
Within minutes, the medical staff rushed to the ground but to their surprise Russell stood up on his feet again.
Meanwhile, the official account of the CPL T20 league took to social media saying; "Andre Russell has gone to hospital for a scan. He left the field on a stretcher earlier having been hit on the head by a bouncer."
They later gave an update confirming that the all-rounder hand't suffered a serious injury. But will be advised to return to his hotel room and be ruled out of the remainder of the match.
In 20 overs, the Tallawahs scored 170 runs with 5 wickets, while the Jamaica franchise was at 137 for 5 when the shocking incident took place.
