Captain Virat Kohli is set to beat Dhoni's N0:1 Record; Details Here
Home > News Shots > Sports newsVirat Kohli has had a great time since taking over the captaincy for Team India after Dhoni. Having registered a historical series win in 2018 Australia series, Kohli is set for another record in the upcoming West Indies test series. Virat Kohli will become the first Indian captain to win the most number of tests if he wins two more matches.
India has won major tests under Kohli's captaincy including the series win against Australia, England and New Zealand. India will play two tests against West Indies which starts from August 22 (Thursday). Though India has won ODI and T20 series, West Indian bowlers would be challenging for Team India in the test format as they have proved in their previous encounter with England.
Former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni holds the highest Test win record with 27 wins out of 60 matches while Virat Kohli has won 26 matches out of 46 games. Therefore, Kohli will equal Dhoni's record if Team India wins the first test against West Indies. Former Indian Captain Saurav Ganguly holds the third place with 21 Test wins out of 49 matches. Virat Kohli took over the responsibility of captaincy after Mahendra Singh Dhoni retired from International Tests in 2014 during Australia tour.
