No Enough Respect: Steve Waugh on Virat's Dismissal in 1st ODI Against Australia!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsAustralian legend Steve Waugh feels that Virat Kohli lost his wicket in the 1st ODI against Australia because he failed to show enough respect to leg-spinner Adam Zampa.
“I just don’t think he’s showing Zampa enough respect and he paid the price,” said Steve Waugh while commentating for Fox Sports.
On the other hand, Kohli was all praises for Zampa. “He was probably one bowler, who had more belief than others (on the 2019 tour) I felt. Throughout the game, even when he was hit for boundaries, he kept coming at the batsmen and try and get them out, which I think is important for a wrist-spinner. And his mindset was a stand out for them in the last series,” Kohli was quoted as saying by India Today before the series began.
Kohli demoted himself to number 4 in order to accommodate both Shikar Dhawan and KL Rahul in the playing XI. After Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul walked out for 10 and 47 runs respectively, Kohli stepped in. However, he was soon dismissed by Adam Zampa for 16 runs.
Both the sides will now head to Rajkot for the second ODI scheduled to be played tomorrow. India is expected to make some changes to its batting line-up.
